What port should I use for BES administration?

When adding a BES server to IT Manager one of the required fields is the BAS Port.  The BAS Port is named for the BlackBerry Administration Service in BES 5.  With newer version of the BES this has changed somewhat so the exact port to use may not be as clear.  The following information will help you to determine what value you should be using for the BAS Port.

BES 12

For BES 12 administration please use the port that applications can use to send data to the BlackBerry Web Services.  By default this is port 18084

The exact port port can be found by checking the tomcat.bws.port setting in the BES12 database.

BES 10

For BES 10 administration the BAS Port should be set to the port that the Administration Console for BlackBerry BlackBerry Device Service runs on.  To determine this port you can launch the console from the BES that it is installed on and get the port number from the URL.

To do this go to the Windows Start menu, select BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 and then Administration Console for BlackBerry BlackBerry Device Service

Then in the web browser that opens look in the URL for the number after the colon.  This number is the BAS Port

BES 5

For BES 5 administration the BAS Port should be set to the port that the BlackBerry Administration Service runs on.  To determine this port you can launch the BlackBerry Administration Service from the BES that it is installed on and get the port number from the URL.

To do this go to the Windows Start menu, select BlackBerry Enterprise Server and then BlackBerry Administration Service

Then in the web browser that opens look in the URL for the number after the colon.  This number is the BAS Port
